Affordable solar for permanently affordable homes
For many families, homeownership represents the American Dream and how most households build wealth. But generations of families with low-incomes and a disproportionate number of Households of Color have been locked out of homeownership. Our partner, Proud Ground, is working to change that by unlocking homeownership for all who believed this dream was out of reach. These intentional efforts have helped over 400 families become first time homeowners and maintain affordable homes for future generations.
Solarize the Land Trust gives these families the opportunity to reduce their energy costs and participate in the clean energy revolution, while preserving affordability for future homebuyers. Spark Northwest is partnering with Proud Ground and Solar for All to help community land trust members install residential solar systems on their homes free of cost. Solarize the Land Trust features free educational solar energy workshops for Proud Ground homeowners, and an opportunity to apply for one of ten residential solar systems.
Solar for All provides solar for affordable housing through fundraising and project development in partnership with affordable housing providers. They will provide funding and project development support for Solarize the Land Trust.
Who is eligible?
